Question: Do you think Anne Boleyn pursued the king!?
In some fictional accounts I've read (such as The Secret Diary of Anne Boleyn by Robin Maxwell and The Lady in the Tower by Jean Plaidy), Anne was nervous when she learned of the king's affection for her and didn't encourage it at first; she only pushed him to get the divorce from Catherine when she realized what power she had over him!. In another fictional account, Doomed Queen Anne by Carolyn Meyer, Anne sort of encouraged the king's affection by flirting with him and she sort of planned to have him fall in love with her!. Obviously these are all fictional accounts and therefore probably fabricated, but I'm just curious as to what you think: was she upset when he took an interest in her, or excited!? Her family was extraordinarily ambitious, and saw her as a pawn in gaining power at court!. Once Henry was done with Anne's sister, Mary, then they saw an opportunity to gain additional power by putting Anne in his path!. One must consider that morality at court was not the same morality that most of the country practice, with regards to sex!. Sex was the only currancy most women had to gain power and influence!. I'm sure she set out to attract him -- almost every woman at court did, because, let's face it, he WAS the King, and he was known to have a wandering eye!. I'm not sure she planned to be Queen, though, until Henry's frustration with being unable to have his way with her put the idea in her head that, perhaps, she could actually be Queen if she played her cards right!. While most knew that Henry was anxious for a male heir, Catherine produced child after child from 1509 until November 1518!. In 1518, she was 33 years old, and by the time Henry fell for Anne Boleyn in 1525, Catherine was 40 years old, 6 years older than Henry, and past child bearing!. It took another eight years for Henry to divorce Catherine!. Presumably, during that time, Anne and Henry came to some sort of accomodation with regards to sexual favors -- that's a LONG time to wait to become Queen on the basis of a promise!. From what I have read in historical accounts Anne Boleyn was an extremely ambitious woman that new exactly what she wanted!. That doesn't make her a power hungry vamp, but it doesn't mean she was an innocent angel either!. She had much to to with feeding Henry with the Protestant dogma which they both used to their advantage in his putting away of Catherine of Aragon!.

I have no idea if she was excited, shy, or whatever!. I'm sure she loved Henry, but she wanted to be queen!. She got what she wanted for awhile at least!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I love that movie!.
I think by both actually, and if you haven't noticed she was all,
'' I'll give you sex ''
And stuff like that!.
That's how she controlled him,
and in the movie he raped her!.
Her babies kept dying!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
