1!. Some women became nurses or attendents on the battlefield, some also chose to become cooks!. Some women became spies and there were some amazing women who fought in the war dressed as men!. Most women supported the war effort at home by boycotting British made goods such as tea and yarn and making socks and underwear as a means of supporting the boycott and to send to militia men, they also made their own yarn and had to return to spinning and weaving and as the men were away fighting took over the running of farmsteads and businesses which meant in the case of the farms taking over all the agicultural work!. 2!. France secretly sent money and supplies to the colonists and in february 1778 the French signed a treaty of commerce and alliance after it recognised the independance of the colonies!. As a result arms, money and clothing were sent openly rather than in secret!. 3!. After the revolution and the end of English rule one challenge faced was economic!. Within a year America was facing a major economic depression as they struggled with inefficiant tax-collecting systems which meant congress often had no money to pay its war debt, maintain the military and pay other government costs!. also, although the states had united under the Articles of Confederation they did not exist under a united nation and states tried to keep their own independance and operate under their own sovereigntiy and interests often clashed as congress struggled to keep them together!.
