Question: What was Russia Like in 1917!?
Apart from the obvious like- oh, well they were in world war 2!. I'm looking for depth!. And some links would be great also!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well they were in world war I actually!. The problems they had was poor food rations, many people were going hungry yet there are stories of the government not allowing the handing out of old food about to spoil to the population!. That causes a great degree of pain!. The War was going on so a lot of food, gas, and other goods like sugar and so on were very hard to find!. People were out of work and the whole thing was a mess!. That is why Lenin was able to come in and start his revolution that ended up killing the royal family and making the nation a Communist Nation!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

For the most part, Russia was a farming nation, far isolated from most of Western Europe!.

Industrialization was limited and only in the largest cities!.
Most Russians had never seen a car, telephone or electricity- even street lights were rare!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

For the mass of the people it was poverty and hunger!.
For the rich it was luxury and idleness!.
The war was going badly (WW1) and the soldiers and sailors were badly led, hungry and desperate!.
