Why are all Germans refered to as Nazis in discussions of WWII?

Question: Why are all Germans refered to as Nazis in discussions of WWII!?

I read about the Nazi invasion of Russia or how Nazi guards tortured Jews!. But almost no camp guards were members of the Nazi party!. The party was a very limited elite!. Why do historians not just say that it was the Germans who killed the Jews and raped Russia, rather than saying it was Nazis!? I never read about the communist invasion of Afghanistan but rather the Soviet invasion!. Why the double standard!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

This is an argument that has made its rounds, and still no one has come up with a viable answer!. there are other arguments along those lines that should be asked!. Why does the south during the civil was get portrayed as slave holding states!. When in reality the people who held slaves were the wealthy elite, the majority of whites did not have slaves!. Or the question, when referring to those held in bondage, why in textbooks are they called "slaves!?" Doesn't it make more sense to use the term"enslaved!?" Www@QuestionHome@Com

Saying soviet invasion of Afghanistan is exactly the same political correctness as saying nazi invasion of whatever - both "nazi" and "soviet" are names of organisations (and both were mass murderers, but thats another story)

the idea of saying "nazi" and not "german" comes from the feeling that most germans were not supporters of the nazi party- even if they acted under its orders!. How true this was- is a matter of opinion!. All I can say is that (having lived 40 years under communist rule) I would have great dificulty in refusing an order from a soviet commissar!. Not because I liked that bunch of thugs but because if I refused they would murder my whole family!. The fact that I regard the soviets to be the same as the nazis (in politics, methods and ethics) has nothing to do with it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
