Africans and African-Americans in US?

Question: Africans and African-Americans in US!?

I am an African, I came to US with my Bachelors degree and now working in here!. And some of my African-Americans friends don't have High school degree!. Some think I'm from the village and there is no school!.What makes people think that everyone in Africa lives in the village!? or no educations!? Does the proud has them fail in the education!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's a sad fact that most US students learn about the US and previous little about any other parts of the world - Africa isn't the only place they don't know much about =(!.
Probably part of the reason many people think most Africans live in a village is because the Nature channel and the History channel and the PBS channel keep running shows about the jungle, Jane Goodall, Prof!. Leakey etc!. and most of the footage is out in the bush!.
Even now, the new series of Survivor set in Gabon, is out in the jungle!. Lots of shots of elephants and hippopotamus, but darn few of sky scrapers or big city traffic!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well for one I am an African American female and I am currently in college!.!.!.!.Why do people think you are from a village!? Sadly its because there are not many programs on television that show Africans in any other way except naked or little clothing and in the jungle or living in huts!. The same way that white society thinks that all African-Americans men are lazy and the women are oversexed!. Its what they see on tv!. And people tend to draw conclusions instead of going out and expanding their point of view on the world!. Its sad but thats how it is!. As for education goes some people dont have family members telling them how important going to college is!. Others simply do not have parents to pay their way into college!. Don't let it discourage you though, you cannot change everybody perception!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Africa has had some VERY BAD PRESS!.!.!. as any country with genocides, wars, tribal conflicts, famine and a myriad of physical, mental and emotional problems WOULD have!.!.!. if it rubs off and is wrong!.!. then it's up to YOU and others LIKE YOU to change those precepts!.!.
