hello

Hadrian !

(the beard is the clue, hadrians beard was short !.!.!.!. commodus also had a beard but it was a far longer one , go to google images and compare the pics)

- Publius Aelius Hadrianus
- roman emperor
- (born January 24, 76 – died July 10, 138)

one of Hadrian's contributions to "popular" culture was the beard, which symbolised his philhellenism!. Except for Nero (also a great lover of Greek culture), all Roman emperors before Hadrian were clean shaven!. Most of the emperors after Hadrian would be portrayed with beards!. Their beards, however, were not worn out of an appreciation for Greek culture but because the beard had, thanks to Hadrian, become fashionable!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

How do you know it was a leader!? The Greeks and Romans were prolific sculptures and it is impossible to gage who this is without a very in depth knowledge of the culture icons at the time!.

Where did you get this image!? Why do you need to know!? Is there anyway that you could track down the source of this image and what significance it had!?

Best of luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Or could this be a picture of a young Commodus!? His "traditional" portrait is as a Herakles but there are some younger images of him with a beard!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It looks like the Emperor Hadrian who ruled the empire from 117-138 CE!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
