The invention of movable type meant that it suddenly became practical to mass-produce Bibles!. The Roman Catholic church had for centuries contended that it was the sole interpreter of Scripture, Increased availability of Bibles meant that te educated laity could read the Bible for themselves!.

Increased familiarity with Scripture meant that the Roman Catholic church could not continue some questionable practices, such as selling indulgences!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The printing press was revolutionary!. For the Reformers, who believed that people should be allowed to read the word of God directly rather than go through a priest, this allowed the mass dissemination of Bibles in native languages (rather than Latin)!. In terms of the rest of the Renaissance, it allowed for the dissemination of literature (somewhat affordably)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
