The only possible positive effect was to bring the South into the economic and monetary system for the rest of the Union!. The Confederacy impelmented their own currency and had gold reserve!. However, after the south lost the war the north had to reintroduce the South to the economic reality that their currency was no longer in effect!.
Other than that, the south held a lot of resentment towards the north for meddling in the affairs of state's rights!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
