All three of them were military rulers who headed totalitarian states

- oversaw their countries during ww2 (1939 - 1945)

- single party states with all opposition banned

- used ferocious internal repression (hitler had concentration camps, stalin had gulags)

- all three were skilled at using propoganda

- all three lacked moral values

- all three had the will and ambition to make their countries supreme powers
