The Egyptians created the pyramids as a final resting place for the pharaohs and kings of ancient Egypt!. They were always built on the left side of the Nile River because of the way the sun rose and set!. in these tombs they build passageways and rooms to place the sarcophagus of the mummy!. These tombs often were filled with priceless treasures that the pharaohs would carry onto the afterlife!. Over the centuries, however, these tombs were raided and the treasures were stolen!. By the time of Roman conquest, the building of pyramids was over for the most part!. There have been some small ones found scattered across the desert but they are mostly decayed or destroyed!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

They were magnificent built during that particular monarchs reign, and were supposed to help better their transition to the afterlife, which was reserved for nobles of the time!. The pyramids were meant to be a base for the pharoah in his afterlife, thus it contained all his treasures!. It was placed on the west side of the Nile, near the Afterlife!.
The pyramids were a large tomb for the pharoah, meant to protect the pharoah's body from harm!. If the body was destroyed, the pharoah couldn't live in the Afterlife!.
