Question: Were Royalty captured into servitude in the African slave trade!?

Most likely yes!. Though it probably was a fairly rare occurrence!. Members of the Royal family would tend to have better security, and less likely to be swept up in slave raids!. But if members of the royal families were caught on the trail, or if their towns/cities were raided, the slavers would not care about their pedigree!. The only thing that would matter would be their overall health!. I'm not aware of specific cases where royalty was thus captured and enslaved, but given the numbers of Africans shipped out of Africa, the odds are some of them were of royal blood!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

only if they managed to hide who they were!. In most cases the ruling classes were exterminated by the muslim conquerors- simply to eliminate any possibility of organised resistance!.
Only "common" people were taken as slaves- and then only those who had market value (which means toddlers and old people were murdered on the spot)
Sometimes "royals" were captured but then they were either re-sold to their families (more money that way) or converted to Islam and released so as to help spread that religion- this pattern is especially visible in the case of the Islamic conquest of Sudan and EthiopiaWww@QuestionHome@Com

it was the african kings that enslaved and sold their lower classes to the white tradersWww@QuestionHome@Com
