Henry the Eighth simply wanted to get rid of a wife he didn't want and changed the course of history in the British Isles!. When England turned Protestant, there was always the fear that the Catholic nations would try to invade and enforce the Catholic faith upon the English again!. So at that time being Catholic was bad!.
Ireland was Catholic!. Completely!. So when England invaded, they found all these potential conspirators with Rome!.
Periodically, and with great English Enthusiasm and efficiency, the English would try to eliminate the Catholic Irish!. And when they decided they couldn't kill them all, they took all of their rights away!.
Then, they couldn't seem to understand why the Irish (to this day) hate them!.
Northern Ireland was settled heavily by Protestant Scotsmen to work in the industries that the English started there!.
When the southern part of Ireland rebelled and managed to break free of the English, one of the conditions England put on them was that the six northern counties stay with the English!. Southern Ireland with great relunctance agreed!.
There is still a strong movement to re-unite the island!. Eventually there will be only one unified Ireland!
32 + 6 = 1
(32 southern counites plus the six northern ones equal one united nation!)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ireland was once part of the protestant UK!. Catholic Irish did not want to be ruled by protestants and they decided to succeed from UK!. However, not all counties agreed!. The few protestant counties in the North stayed with UK!. The IRA bombed Northern Ireland to get them to join the rest of Ireland, believing that it should not be divided!. The Catholics believed that the protestants betrayed them by dividing their beloved land!. They finally did come to an agreement and that is why there are no more bombings in Belfast area!. I do not know the details of the agreement, but Northern Ireland still exists as a part of UK!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There was a time when Ireland was somehow ruled by England when England was still a Catholic country!. That was something Paddy didn't apreciated much, but also, didn't bother Paddy to much!. After all, the english rule was just sort of "formal", "nominal"!. The King of England didn't mess much into Irihs issues, and the Irish people were living in their own properties, living their own lives, preaching free, and so on!. Yes, the King is in England, but, it's not that big deal!. The problem is that after England became proddy, life became much harder for Paddy in ihis country!.

It's got to do with religion only because of politics!. Let's see, you got Ireland, which has always been a Catholic country, which has never really wanted to be ruled by England/Britain!. So here you got an Irishman and, probably, but not neccesarily, catholic (Many IRA members were proddies)!. The catholicism of Paddy is also strongly motivated because John Bull is an Englishman (probably proddy, but doesn't really matter), as England/Britain wants to rule Paddy's country and that obviously pisses Paddy off very much - otherwise Paddy wouldn't really care much about religion!. So Paddy doesn't hate Protestants!. He hates the kind of Protestants that want to rule his country, display a great deal of proselitism and became the landowners after expelling the local irish owners from their lands!. Those Protestants enemies are identified in Paddy's mind as the English or the Scots/English settlers of N!.Ireland!. Paddy's got no hard fellings against Swiss Proddies, f!.i!.

Because N!.Ireland was populated in the 16th century by waves of Scots/English protestant settlers supported by Protestant England/Scotland in order to; a) have a bigger control of Ireland, b) promoting Protestantism as a sign of loyalty to the Crown among the local Irish Catholic people!.
The Irish catholics of N!.Ireland basically told the King of England and the proddies to go to fock, one more time, so they were expelled/subdued/focked up by the proddy/loyalist newcomers!. These newcomers prouded themselves in being both Loyalist to the Crown and Proddies!. At the same time!. So in their mind; Proddy=Loyalist!. And in Paddy's mind, those fockers from the north invading his country were Huns!. Huns= Loyalist+Proddy!. So he prouded himself in being Catholic as a sign of resistance against English/Scot/Proddy invasion of his country!.

Got it!?!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
