People were ready for it!. The US had just finished with the Civil War and was negotiating with England in regards to English aid to the confederacy in the form of allowing ships to be sold and shipbuilding spaces to be rented and cotton sold!. The US could have taken Britain on and won!. The Canadians felt that their own confederation would have protected themselves from an aggressive move on the part of the US!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
