you would need to google it but I could imagine it's because it's the largest source of water from which to irrigate crops from, drink, wash, fish from!. Without water you can't survive, they live in a very arid continent!. So this massive source of fresh water would've been a god send!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The ancient Egyptians relied heavily on the Nile, as they were dependent upon the Nile Delta's annual floods for their crops (and therefore their civilisation) to survive!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
