I would say during the Italian unification when all the states of Italy became one!. The unification took place during the 1800's and was duly because of a nationalistic movement where the people of Italy wanted to become a single country competitive with the other ones!. Their art and literature used to be dominated by what the papal states wanted but now it was about nationalism!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
