Muhammad bin Tughluq (this should be the right transcription from arabic ???? ?? ????) born around 1300 and dead in 1351 was the Sultan of Delhi from 1325 to 1351 (after the death of his father)
Was also known as Prince Juna Khan
He tried to introduce coinage in India (instead of gold and silver pieces) !. Basically it was the first Indian currency, coined in brass or copper and granted by a gold and silver reserve in the sultanate treasury!. Meanwhile the experiment failed due to forgery (some chronicles of that time said that every home become a mint for fake coins)
He also decided to move the capital to Devagiri, 700 miles to the South (to better control the newly acquired territories), but he decided not only to move the administration but the whole population, without considering the lack of water in the new capital!. Many people died and two years later he moved the capital back with all the people causing a new disaster!.
The Tughluq sultanate started falling apart with tributary states declaring independence!. He died for illness during a military campaign in Sindh (now in Pakistan) leaving the throne to his cousin Firuz Shah
who weakened even more the sultanate and few years after his death Timur (Tamerlane) invaded Delhi estinguishing the line of the tughlaq
