In 1916 at the middle of the war there was something like 2,500 Frenchman - if not more - being killed per day!. And France was only ONE of many countries involved!. This deprived France of many leaders she needed when World War 2 came along twenty years later!. It also made the French people apathetic about World War 2, which in turn led to the early collapse of France to the Nazis in 1940!. In Britan and America to this day the French are still condemned for caving in the Nazis so fast, but this is in wanton ignorance of the psychological effect the carnage of World War I had on the populace!. The war caused the collapse of the Russian and German monarchies!. Russia became Communist and the power vacum in German left the way open for Adolf Hitler!. The consequences of this would take another history lesson!. There may have been some minor positive effects to this war but they are outweight, in my opinion, by the negatives!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Positive!.!.!. Technological, medicinal advances Planes become more mainstream U!.S!. becomes a "great" power U!.S!. goes back to a non-interventionist policy post-Wilson Negative- Millions dead Rise of Hitler due to Versailles Treaty Spanish Influenza Ignoring Ho Chi Min The League of Nations Wilson's interventionism If you had to choose one of each, pro - U!.S!. becoming a great power!. WWI was quintessentially the American victory (WWII was moreso due to the Soviets, minus the Pacific) Con - Spanish influenza is very interesting and relevant or the rise of Hitler due to the Treaty of Versailles!.Www@QuestionHome@Com It's hard to find any positives about WW1, because it was a war that wasn't finished!. It was just put on hold for 20 years while everybody rearmed!. If I had to stretch and find something!.!. maybe that it brought the US into more of a role as a global player!.
