They're not always accurate, they're just always answering, I'm not sure where they find the time to answer all those questions!.

The link isn't working so I'm not sure what that's about!. The "top contributors" are usually just people with a lot of time on their hands to research questions and answer them!. In most cases they don't know the answer they look it up, I've seen instances in which a top contributor answered a question that asked how a certain person felt about slavery, the answer at first was "he was anti slavery" but a few minutes later there was a long Wiki copied answer and at the end of it the guy said "it was clear he supported slavery"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The person above me has an excellent answer, and I agree with that person!. It seems that as long as you ANSWER the question, it doesn't matter very much whether you're right or not, Yahoo! still counts it as an answer!. So, the more questions you answer, the better you look or sound, I guess!. But a guess is not an answer, so I don't think Yahoo! will leave my "answer" on here for very long!. Hope you get a chance to see this before it's deleted!. Maybe someone FROM Yahoo! would be willing to address these concerns!? They don't seem very responsive, though!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Top contributor has nothing to do with accuracy - only how many times you answer in a certain area!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Maybe because that is what they teach in elementary school, but then when they teach you what really happened its a different story!.

Yes, he married Martha Custis, and she came from one of the wealthiest families in the colonies!. George wasn't exactly poor going into the marriage, though he was from from what he became!.

He did chose the Generals that were his aides!.
He did want to reconcile with England!.
Obviously fighting against the crown was treason!.
Every school child also knows that he chopped down a cherry tree and didn't lie to his father about it, however that never happened!.

I agree, being top contributer has nothing to do with being right all the tie, but you can't then go and give an example where you are wrong!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

First, I am not always a top contributor!. I "find" my time because I plan well and don't watch a lot of TV - it also helps that I own the business!. I am not always found to be the best answer, although "best" and "correct" rarely seem to coincide or matter much to those who reside here!. I used to hang out in the politics section, but people there don't care about correct and historically accurate answers, they're only interested in self affirmation!.

As for Washington: In regards to personal wealth and finance, his father was a land speculator and upon his death left ol' George and his brother and sisters over 100,000 acres!. George took up where his father left off and often times put up Mt!. Vernon as collateral!. His goal was to ensure himself a place in history!. As was the practice of the day, he purchased his commission and after a number of successful land ventures was able to establish himself as a "gentleman" of Virginia!. With the land and funds he'd amassed, he was able to then purchase the uniforms and weaponry to arm his soldiers under his command!. As for your quip about a lack of trust, I suspect his trust was severely shaken after he'd befriended and entrusted Benedict Arnold with command of West Point!.

You see!? Six thumbs down and for what!? I wrote nothing but fact!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
