Operation Rolling Thunder ( 2 march 1965 - 1 November 1968) was one of the many air campaigns of the Vietnam war!. It's objectives were:

1!. bolster the Saigon regime
2!. convince the North Vietnamese to cease supporting the Viet Cong in South Vietnam
3!. to destroy the North Vietnamese air defense system, transportation system and industrial base
4!. to interdict the flow of men and material into South Vietnam

Rolling Thunder was the most intense air/ground battle of the Cold War and at its conclusion was deemed a failure, because it had not achieved any of its goals!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Rolling Thunder was a sustained air campaign against North Vietnam lasting from March 2, 1965 to November 1 1968!.
The objectives changed over time from morale boosting in Saigon to trying to reduce support for the Viet Cong from North Vietnam to interdicting supplies from the north to the insurgency!.
Due to the restrictions on U!.S!. and allied air operations, forbidding them from attacking certain areas, and the support for the the Viet Cong and NOrth VIetnam by other communist nations the operation was a failure!. None of the objectives were obtained!.

Ultimately futile attempt to bomb the North Vietnamese Resistance into submission during the 1960's as part of the Vietnam War, which caused unnecessary suffering and destruction of the civilian population!.
