What were it's goals!? Why was it largely ineffective!? I know there were 3 reasons for its failure, but what were those!? What did Japan invading manchuria have to do with the league of nations!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
British Foreign Secretary Edward Grey first proposed it!.

The nations after WW1 saw the need for some sort of world organization that could resolve disputes without going to war!. Collective action was thought to be a deterrent!.

It failed due to the United States not entering, thus lessening its effectiveness; appeasement on the part of the nations that were in the League; and the fact that the League was powerless to really do anything!.

Japan invades Manchuria, withdraws from the League - and nothing happened as a consequence!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

the goals are :

resolving territorial disputes
peace and security
