His biggest major writing is translating the Bible to common language - in his case, German - so that anyone could read it and not be at the mercy of their priest!.

Aside from this he posted his letter of protest on the door of a Catholic church leading to the secession of many Catholics!. The word "protestant" has the root of protest because the Lutherans, Calvinists, Baptists, and others were protesting the wrongs they felt were under!.

Other accomplishments include 2 bachelor's degrees and a Ph!.D!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm not sure translating the Bible into the vernacular was an accomplishment!. It allowed people to interpret God's word using their own twisted or incomplete understanding of words!.

But lets remember that at the time of Martin Luther the printing press was just being invented!. Prior to that, very few persons or families owned Bibles because they were all hand written by monks!. It took years to produce one and they were expensive!. Additionally, most of the common population could not read, so owning a Bible in the vernacular made no difference!.!.!.they couldn't read it!.

Martin Luther did accomplish some good things and the Catholic Church acknowledged such!. The accepted 37 of his 95 thesis!.

Did Luther help people understand the Bible, or did he just write it in German to EXPRESS HIS OWN VIEWS!? He singlehandedly took out several books of the Bible that had been accepted for centuries, which he labelled 'Apocrypha!.' He also changed a key passage of the Bible which stated 'man is justified by faith', to 'man is justified by faith ALONE', to reflect his viewpoint!.

also important is that Luther was not the first one to translate the Bible into the common language; when the Bible was translated into Latin, it was in the everyday language of the Roman people!. Priests were just trusted to interpret this better than the average person (because few COULD read), and because they had the wisdom/studies (and help of the Holy Spirit) to best be able to understand it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
