Question: What would be a good title for my screenplay on The Battle of Berlin (Read On)!?What would you like to ask!?
My centre point is the Battle of Berlin at the End of WWII

Soviet forces march, and capture Berlin from the Nazis, Hitler eventually commits suicide and the War ends in Europe!.

However it is the Soviets who capture Berlin and this leads to the rise of the Soviet Union into a World superpower

The major symbolism I hope to strike comes at the end whent the Soviets have captured Berlin and lower the Nazi flag off the Reichstag and raise the Soviet flag!. Symblising the Nazis final fall and the rise of the Soviets!.

The fall of one evil leading directly to the rise of another!.

What makes a good title!? I'm thinkin maybe Red Berlin

also is this a good idea

You may enjoy a German film called "Downfall" which came out a few years ago, featuring Bruno Ganz as Hitler!. It describes Hitler's last days!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I suggest you take the whole thing from a very human point of view, otherwise your film will come out like a didactic documentary with an overt political bias!. Perhaps you could make a film that would focus on the plight of two Berliners trying to survive the horrors of war with a new world order(or is it disorder!?) unfolding behind them!. That I guess would make for a more interesting political commentary!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If I may be rather critical, your approach to the topic seems too literal!. It's a story everybody knows, where is the interest in it (I know that this may be because your only giving a rough sketch of your screenplay - you wouldn't be silly enough to publish the whole thing here, but the point stands)!. Perhaps you should look for another way into the events, look at Saving Private Ryan, Enemy at the Gates or the excellent Downfall for how this can be done!.

If you haven't seen Downfall you should DEFINITELY watch it before proceeding with your screenplay, so you know what you're up against!.

I'm afraid your moment of 'major symbolism' is also very, very trite!. All you're doing is recreating an already very famous photograph in film form!. Two questions you need to think about: 1!. How are you going to make the recreation of the scene any more symbolically powerful than the original photo!? 2!. The Nazis bad, Communists also bad thing is as old as the hills!. What is the point of transmitting this symbolic moment!? How will you stop your audience from yawning at an overworked piece of common wisdom!?

I hope you find these thoughts constructive, as they're meant to be, rather than a downer!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
