What war did Nixon start!? Vietnam was Johnson's war, he was the one who lied about the Maddox being attacked just to get involved in a war so he could show the country he was tough on communism and get elected to his own term!.

You're also forgetting about Korea which was Truman's senseless war, the North Koreans were pushed out of South Korea after a few months but Truman wanted to expand the war into North Korea causing the Chinese to get involved!. He caused that war to go on for several more years losing several thousand more lives!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Nice rant, but no question or accuracy!. One would have to presuppose the outcome of things yet to be seen in Iraq to consider it senseless, and Nixon became president on a platform of getting the US out of a war begun by a Democrat!. In Vietnam, of course, victory was turned into defeat by a defeatist attitude at home, with a huge subsequent and senseless loss of life following!. That outcome would have been certain had the anti-war people had their way in Iraq a couple of years ago, and at least the possibility of averting a similar disaster is at hand because of the strategic change of direction associated with "the surge!."
