Collectivisation was an economic move but also a political move too!.

economically it was meant to improve agricultural production by bring in all of the peasant's farms into one and use new technology such as tractors etc!. it didn't work in practise because of famines and poor effort on thepeasantt side!.

but collectivisation was really a political move!. Stalin had been targeting the Kulaks for years with his masspropagandaa!. he tried to make thepeasantss revolt against them!. Stalin wanted to get rid of the kulaks and it wouldn't be extreme to say, exterminate them as a mass group!. Collectivisation was a way of doing this!.

Kulaks had been working on there lands for years building up their land and profits!.Collectivisation was to take all of this away from them!.Stalin new that they wouldn't co-operate so he used brutal force to get them to abide!. So Stalin got to get rid of the Kulaks which greatly reduced opposition for him and the Bolshevik party!.so inn thatsensee it was a political move!. hence why it was the first thing he did when he came to power as a dictator!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
