Question: Question about mummies!?
They say they stick something up their nose and pull their brain out from the nose with a hook or something similar!.

How does a brain fit through the nose!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

What they did was they stuck a hook up the nose and as the person above me said, they pulled the brain out piece by piece!. The entire brain would not all come out at once, so they used the hook to break the brain up inside the skull and they would then pull out the pieces with a hook!. Kind of gross huh!? The Egyptians didn't know what the brain was used for, and they thought it was unimportant!.

To mummify a body they'd stick a special tool up the nose and pull out the brain, bit by bit!. They'd then get the leftovers out by pushing fluid into the brain cavity and draining!.

The left side of the body would be cut open and the internal organs removed!. Wrappings and other stuff would be packed into the void to keep the shape of the body!. What was removed went into jars and buried separately in the tomb!.They eyes were also plucked out!.

The body would then be covered in a salt for 70 days!. That removed most of the moisture and a fair amount of decay causing bacteria!.

What was left was anointed with oils, wrapped with charms and jewelry, then placed in a coffin!.One side note!. A lot of mummies would have been better off if the organs were removed and then buried!. The dry climate of Egypt tended to arrest deacy and the oils pours on the remains often glued them to the bottom of the coffin!.

While we might go "gross" modern cremation has it's gross side and dirt burial requires 'burping" coffins!.
