It has to do with geographical features of the lands and the people that settled them!. Virginia is southern and much warmer compared to New England so mosquitoes were able to breed successfully causing malaria and death!. The Pilgrims of New England had a much temperate climate and this hindered mosquito multiplication!. also settlers in Jamestown were mostly male since it was founded as sort of a "make-your-money-and-be-successful" colony and so male migrants from England were more drawn to it than females!. There was a drought of females that it was hard for the settlers to expand and increase the population!. The Pilgrims on the other hand had females that came since most of them were families in the first place!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
