when you start blaming people for slavery, why do you only have a go at white people and not say anything about the african kings that enslaved and sold you in the first place!. Wasnt it white people that stamped out slavery in the end!? Www@QuestionHome@Com

True, slavery is a concept that has existed in many cultures throughout history!. And in West Africa during the Atlantic Slave Trade, African kings, local tribal leaders, and Arab traders would sell ethnic Africans from defeated tribes and nations (who were already enslaved) to Portuguese and Spanish slavers!. I kind of see the logic of your argument, BUT!.!.!.

I don't believe for a second that you asked this question without the intention of provoking an argument!. For the record though I think it is wrong for any person regardless of race to blame someone of the current generation for ANYTHING that happened over 100 years ago!. In addition, many white Americans have no ancestral ties to slaveowners!. I mean, all of my great-grandparents were immigrants from Italy (which had no part in the Slave Trade) and Quebec (which had around 1,000 black slaves throughout its whole history before slavery was abolished in the British Empire in 1834) !. But I'm white and American, so should I feel guilty about slavery in the United States!?

The thing I hate about this racist thing, is most of the time when you call some one BLACK they say they are not black they are african american! BS! Now if you where born in Africa then moved here then I would call you African American!. But if you where not born there than I am going to call you a black person!. It is not a racist name it is just the color of your skin!.When I am called a white man I don't go off and say no I am not, I am Irish American! So to the original question I don't know why they are getting so uptight about it White people changed the laws and the rules to help them better them selves!. In many ways we're still living with the legacy of slavery!. I don't agree with singling out any current race for historical issues, but lets face it, those historical issues have made us what we are today and the numerical socio-economic evidence is that we're still not what we could be, even though we like to think we are!.

Two major fallacies in the context of the question:
1!. White people weren't solely responsible for abolition!. It took great leadership, courage, and strength from many races, ex-slaves included!.
2!. Slavery hasn't been "stamped out" it has only been made illegal!. There's more slaves numerically, although less in terms of percentage, around the world today than ever before in human history!.

The argument is also based on the idea that if a thief returns the TV he broke into my house to steal I should throw him a friggin' thank you party!. Sorry, I'm just not that gracious!. Are you!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

There were many cultures that had slaves!. There was slavery in the Bible!. Mose's whole biological family was enslaved as well as all of the jews!. But bottom line slavery is wrong!. But I don't think that people should still be playing the race card!. White people didn't start slavery,but we are the ones that put out that cigarette!. There is still slavery, just not as much, thanks to the (dare I say it) British!. They were of the first whites to put an end to slavery!.

You are right SOME of our ancestors did sell their own people and within any race there are always people looking out for their selfish ways!. Whites can not be pat on the back for emancipating us because they were the ones that enslaved us and kept us enslaved!. thats like causing a riot and turning around and stopping it you started it so you would not be a hero in my eyes!. Many intelligent Blacks do indeed know that information!. But the emanicpation wasnt all your efforts we helped our future as well if youwant to admit it or not and all blacks dont BLAME but we just know our history and many slaves did not blame their slave owners because they were strong spirited and had great mind sets

there was no slave mode of production in africa before the coming of arab an europeans,the problem of labour,area to invest,market an raw material which exist in europe an incresing demand of domestic workers in arabian countries forced africa pple to become slave!.dont forget africa pple ar strong!.
