The Hessians were German soldiers in British service!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

They were called Hessians because a large number (not all) were from Hesse-Kassel (which Frederick II was Langrave), some were from Hanover (George III was also Elector of Hanover), still others from other German states!.

They were usually petty criminals, debtors, forced to serve, or drafted!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
