Basically Powhatan's saying wars been a way of life for the people brought by the white people and they'd rather not fight!.

John Smith is saying he understands Powhatan and family aren't responsible but the white people only attack in response to a wrongdoing by the Indians!.

It's basically a grown up version of "you started it, nuh uh you did, nuh uh you did"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
