Question: We used to dhip mail down a river (in 1800's or so)!?

Hi, im trying to find an article, any article that talks about the time, date, and place in america of when we used to ship our mail, or cargo down rivers, so it could get to anothr town (i may be thinknig of the indians, but not sure)!.

In the late 1700s until about 1850, we used barge canals to ships everything from goods to the mail and building supplies to food and livestock down the canals!. Here are some sites that might get you started:
