I had to write an essay for AP European History and the essay was Compare and Contrast the actions of Martin Luther and Ferdinand Magellan in their quests to achieve their goals!. Who seems to be more successful!? I chose Luther and this is my conclusion to the essay!. Please tell me what you think!?!? Thanks a ton! Conclusion Martin Luther was able to achieve great amounts of success towards his reformation objectives in Medieval Europe compared to Ferdinand Magellan who did not achieve as much success in his quest to the Spice Islands!. Luther made a large impact on Europe due to his endless desire for reformation, his ability to take appropriate risks to farther the Protestant Movement, and his ability to not lose track of himself during his journey!. Due to these characteristics of Luther, Europeans were blessed with the opportunity to stray away from the Catholic Church and better their selves because of the access to replicate their new leader’s morals and ethics!. Furthermore, Magellan success did not go un-noticed and he was a terrific pioneer for many explorers and showed that circumnavigation was possible!. Unlike Luther, Magellan had a few Achilles heels which prevented him from being a far greater and known explorer!. His inconsistency and sometimes questionable desire towards his goals held back the opportunity for him to make a tremendous impact in Europe like Martin Luther!. Luther’s achievements alone prove that he is not only the most successful Renaissance man of the century but one of the greatest activists and leaders of all time!. His name ricochets amongst the likes of Martin Luther King Jr!., Mohandas Gandhi, Genghis Khan, St!. Paul of Tarsus, and Muhammad!. His impact would forever change Europeans and is reason why millions of people act the way they do today!. Luther’s colossal success created an everlasting imprint on the heart of Europe!. Please take this to your English teacher and ask for assistance with your sentence structure and grammar!. For example, names do not ricochet, they resonate!. An achilles heel is a singular, devastating shortcoming!. It would be illogical to attribute more than one to a person!. As for content, don't lose sight of the fact that both men's greatest achievements were unintentional!. Luther's intent was to reform the existing Catholic Church!. He did not wish to spearhead the creation of Protestant sects!. Magellan did not intend to circumnavigate the globe!. Not accounting for the existence of the Pacific Ocean, he thought he could reach the Moluccas by sailing to the east from the west (by way of a strait through the middle of South America which he found did not exist) and more quickly than the traditional eastern route!. Though Magellan did not survive the journey, some of his crew did and became the first men to circumnavigate the globe, though unintentionally!. As for impact, Luther's was immediate!. Reformation swept across Europe!. The translation of the Bible into the vernacular had a tremendous impact on the success of the Reformation and Luther's german translation and introductions of the New Testament books were widely used as the basis for other translations!. Magellan suffered a shameful death, and remained unheralded until many years after his death!. It was decades before another person (Drake) would successfully circumnavigate the globe!. Magellan's personal goal was to achieve fame and fortune for himself and his family!. He utterly failed!. Luther's desire was to reform the church and re-establish the primacy of doctrine of justification through faith rather than works!. He failed to immediately reform the Catholic Church, but he succeeded in re-establishing the central message of the New Testament!.Www@QuestionHome@Com |
