El alamein (1942) changed the balance of power to the Allies in Africa after Rommel's earlier successes!. From there, forces were able to progress to Sicily and Italy!.
Stalingrad (1942) saw the end of the German army which had run all over western Europe and paved the way for the Russians to begin their massive counterattack from the east!.
The Battle of Midway consolidated American naval supremacy in the Pacific and they were then able to pick off the stepping-stone islands (Iwo Jima, Okinawa) as they closed in on Japan!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
