It's an old saying but very true that history is written by the victors!. In other words George Washington would have been some sort of brigand/rebel!. God's sake Sir Francis Drake was a pirate!. also gender and race biased!. Ancient inventions ignored in favour of supposed white inventors centuries later, shall we continue!?!?!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

History is correct!. History is what happened, so it can't be incorrect!. People's interpretations can be biased, incorrect or have omissions!. That's impossible to avoid!. This is why we are supposed to read a variety of sources and draw our own conclusions!. It's impossible to get a full picture, but we can do our best and make sure our conclusions are at least sensible!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Since facts are facts, I'm guessing that you are referring to the 'interpretation' of history and its relative correctness!. I guess that you could make the case that any historical interpretation is subject to being skewed by any number factors!.

Over time historical events are often reinterpreted as new facts are discovered and as creative analysis makes new connections between (initially) disassociated facts and elements and events!.

Our interpretation is continually evolving!.

Other factors that provide unique historical interpretation include the historian's personal view of life!. For example, the degree to which slavery is considered a causative factor of the civil war can be impacted by the historians view of slavery from the perspective of today!. Related to this is current political necessity which requires a 'certain' interpretation of history to support some political goal!.

It is the responsibility of the student of history check sources and differing historical interpretations Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think there would be any history if it was wrong!. History is events that have already happened!. It is possible for one to be incorrect but with our studies these days most of it is correct!. The information of history could be incorrect!. But the history itself of what has happened is correct!. I don't see how it can be incorrect!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

'History' is an object, it can't be right or wrong!. Can a tree be right or wrong!?

Now, an INTERPRETATION of history can be correct, or incorrect!. To prove it's incorrect, you would have to prove bias, or find facts that contradict the interpretation!. Then, the interpretation would be corrected!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

We don't know if it is or it isn't!. Napoleon once said "history is agreed upon lies"Www@QuestionHome@Com

Then we would currently be learning from history's mistakes!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Some of it certainly is not correct!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
