There is no evidence that Eadgar had children, but this is not unusual for that time!. He ended his days in exile, out of favour and without any effective power - he became, in effect, an outcast!. No official records would have been kept, even if he did have wife and children!.

Of course there is plenty of speculation that he might have fathered a son or daughter - this would make it easier for modern crackpots to prove their "royal Saxon ancestry"!. Sadly, without any real evidence, they are all deluding themselves!.

Eadgar was grandson of Edmund Ironside - "aetheling" is a title of a minor princeling, although it can sometimes denote an heir to the Saxon throne!.

Always ignore wikipedia, since it is unreliable, contradictory and in some cases pure fiction!.

If you are interested in Saxon history then you should obtain a copy of "The Anglo-Saxon Chronicles" - a new edition by Michael Swanton is the best I have seen!.

(this is pretty much all that is known of Eadgar with any certainty)Www@QuestionHome@Com
