Position:Home>History> What did people where in the 50's??Question: What did people where in the 50's!?!? Every Wednesday night at marching band practice we have theme night!. And next Wednesday is decades, and freshmen are 50's!. So what did people where in the 50's, and what could I wear that will still be comfy, because I have to march and I don't want to get too hot!. And also some stuff that I could wear just out of clothes I have because I don't really want to go out and buy stuff!. Thanks!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: They used to wear what we called "peddle pushers" which are the 3/4 length pants you guys are wearing now - no jeans though!. White sneakers and little T-shirts!. Actually - Very similar to what you guys are wearing now come to think of it!. Don't forget the ankle socks!Www@QuestionHome@Com In those dark days before permanent press, I usually wore chino pants that I washed and dried on a special stretcher that made ironing unnecessary!. And I wore a shirt!. For more formal occasions, men generally dressed up more than today!. You would rarely see a man in a restaurant or a theater without a coat and tie!. In fact, when I was in grade school in the 1940s, I was expected to wear a tie to school every day it was not very hot!.Www@QuestionHome@Com If you saw the movie Grease you can get some good ideas from that and search for pictures of the movie online!. Anything from that movie is stereotypical 50's clothing!. For Guys bowling shirts and slacks are big and slicked back hair!.
