Containment of Communism!.

1!. The Marshall Plan!. Massive Economic Aid to Europe to alleviate poverty and thus limit the appeal of Communism!.

3!. The Korean Conflict!. The United States Leeds a U!.N!. coalition to stop the communist North from taking over the rest of Korea!.

1 - built allies through foreign aid, NATO and other orgs!. to create a bilateral world!.

2 - built up the bureaucracy in the UN -- far more than necessary, and the UN focused almost entirely on Cold War efforts to the exclusion of other issues (other than independence movements)!.

3 - gave arms and support to dubious governments since WW II (Saddam Hussein, Somalia and other dictatorships come to mind)!. We wanted them on our side, and often the countries took from both sides!.

4 - we did make peaceful attempts -- the Peace Corps was partly designed to be a peaceful attempt through education to help people!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
