because Caesar like all great men before and after him inspired people to follow him as did alexander before him Cesar lead by example he fought and dominated the Gauls in the north of italy he fought along side his men he was pretty much what we today would call a war hero he was a tactical genius and his men respected him enough to follow him in to battle!. he was respected by the people of rome but fear and hated by the senators of rome!. he was powerful because if he could inspire his men to fight against the fear-son Gauls to the north and being the only man to defeat and dominate the Gauls on there own territory he returned to rome as a hero!. as if some one today would go into the taliban territory and defeat all of them and take there leaderwell that was pretty much the equivalent of what Cesar did back then making him universally respected by his man and common people as a hero and fear by the senateWww@QuestionHome@Com

Julius Caesar WAS powerful because he came from a prestigious and respected family of the patrician class!. his family was given great wealth in the form of a dowry when Gaius Marius married Caesar's aunt, Julia!.
Caesar would serve under his uncle, while his uncle commanded roman legions while serving as consul (the highest roman political office)!.
later caesar would be elected consul along with his friend Pompey!. Caesar was a brilliant strategist politician and orator, he would become Rome's second dictator and paved the way for Rome's transition from republic to empire!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
