Do you know of any particular slaves that were sold by TJ from their families, or are you talking out of your hat!?Www@QuestionHome@Com Jefferson was extolled because he helped write the Declaration of Independence, and was - for his time - a radical democrat!. The US offered the chance to vote to all non-slave men; which was revolutionary for the time!. (The Brits, for example, limited the vote far further; to all men who had a lot of property!.) As for your 'ripped black kids from parents!.!.!.', Jefferson may have owned slaves, but this doesn't mean he went beyond what other slaveowners did, traded slaves to other slaveowners, or did worse than other slaveowners!. In other words, he may have been evil just for owning slaves - but that doesn't automatically mean he was one of the WORST slaveowners!. Something you didn't know about Thomas Jefferson, when he first wrote the Declaration of Independence he placed a clause that said all slaves would be freed, but the continental congress forced him to revise that part!. Jefferson tried to free all slaves but couldn't!. However, he's "extolled" because he is known to have freed his slaves when he died!. In reality he freed his slave mistress Sally Hemings' children, who are believed to be his children!. There were three others he granted freedom to prior to his death!.
