The Yalta conference laid the foundation for the "cold war!."

Stalin drew a vail over the territories he controlled and, no one being allowed to see in, those in the west grew suspicious!. Add to this, Stalin's going back on his word about allowing free access to western Berlin via the highway was cause for great concern!.

There were many milestones!.

Eisenhower's spy flights over Russia

Kennedy's basing Nuclear missiles in Turkey

Castro's Russian missiles based in Cuba

Numerous proxy wars in Central, South America, Africa and Asia!.

2) Allowing the Soviets to dominate Germany and surround Berlin!.
