When Truman integrated the Army after WWII, it was a very unpopular order!. But i do not believe that was the start of the civil rights movement!. Ever since the 14th amendment (civil rights amendment , for men) of 1868, civil rights had been a hot-button topic!. Civil rights was only really adressed, however, when times were peaceful!. Look at the Harlem renaissance of the years following WWI!. the progress made by black americans in this era was quashed by segregation!. Then, WWII!. Afterwords, in the 50's and 60's, America again had time to pay attention to the plight of Black Americans!. American Women were affected by the civil rights movement- In both the 1920's and 1970's, women's rights made great strides after african americans!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
