Question: Is it true that England has never had a revolution!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
The English Civil War (more properly British Civil War, since Scotland was involved as well) is sometimes called a revolution!. However, the leaders of the armies of parliament did not really want to change the system of government very much, or allow more power to the people or anything, they just wanted to guarantee their own rights as members of parliament!. Radical movements that arose within the parliamentary side, like the Levellers and the Diggers, were ruthlessly crushed!.

It was, I suppose, a revolution of a sort, but not really a popular uprising of the kind I think of when I think of the word 'revolution'!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
