1 - An attack across the river dissolved in chaos and then turned into a panic-stricken flight!. This persuaded McClellan (as if he needed any excuse) that his army needed further training!.
2 - Secured Missouri for the Union and issued the first proclamation relating to the freeing of slaves!.
