Before it was the state of Texas, it was part of New Spain, then part of the United States of Texas as Coahuila y Tejas, then the Republic of Texas!.

If you were from the republic of Texas, you were called a 'Texian!.' (Now, just Texan!.)

Texas has had many names!. First it was French Texas, then Spanish Texas, followed by Mexican Texas, and finally it was known as the Republic of Texas before gaining statehood and admission into the Union!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
