Question: Are there any pictures of the actual Titanic sinking at sea!?

Interesting question!. The answer is no!. Unlike what a previous answerer stated, the fact is that portable, easy-to-use cameras did exist at that time!. In fact, one of the earliest by-wire big on the scene news photos was of a Titanic lifeboat about to be picked up!. The picture was taken via portable camera by a passenger on the Carpathia!. There were probably portable cameras on Titanic, but no one seemed to have had the presence of mind to grab one before getting into a lifeboat!. The amount of light at that time of night may have rendered it moot anyway, as the flash would have been too tiny to get a picture!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, in general cameras were both bulky and difficult to use in poor light!. Portable cameras may have been available, but portable is a relative thing, by today's standards they would be huge!. also cameras were not as common as they are now, not everyone took a camera with them on vacation!.

Add to that the chaos and fear as the ship is sinking and it's not a surprise that nobody thought to take a camera along!. And very often pictures like that are taken by witnesses, not actual victims of the disaster!. The people it's happening to have more important issues to deal with!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, and the reason is this: wouldn't you hope that anyone who was close enough to actually see the sinking ship would help them!? The Carpathia was close and saw the flares, but thought it was fireworks for a party, and couldn't see the ship actually sinking!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

the only people who could hav taken the picture were the lucky sods in the 'getaway' boats or the unlucky sods drowning, I doubt either of them had the time to think about grabbing their kodak disposables incase of that perfect picture moment!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No - - - - cameras were still bulky and not easy to carry about and people just were not in the habit of snapping off photos so no, no one aboard thought to snag a picture!.
