Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: They were, I believe, actually headed for a more southerly location, but in the 17th century, sailing was risky!. The ships were wind-propelled, so being blown off course was common!. There was also no such thing as GPS!. Lastly, the Mayflower set sail in September, which was, to me, kind of late in the year!. After all, it wouldn't give the settlers any time to plant any crops, even if they had reached a place further south!.Www@QuestionHome@Com rough seas awaits in the south!. and i do means rough!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com |
