i hope it's in the right category!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Slavery, holocaust AND abortion!. In all three, somebody decides that somebody else (an innocent's) interersts must be obliterated for the "common good"!. The strong prey on the weak and justify it with political correctness!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Slavery is not about genocide!. If you kill all of the slaves, who would do the work!?

Slavery, which has been around since the dawn of civlization, has not always been based on race!. Involuntary servitude was originally through conquest, even of people of the same race!.

Slavery in the Americas was originally place on conquered Native Americans!. As horrible working conditions and lack of immunity to European borne diseases ravaged the slave populations, African slaves were imported!. Though many slaves died during the horrendus Middle Passage, slave traders did not try to eliminate the African population; that would cost them their product!. Slave owner may be brutal toward slaves, but that would also be counter-productive; a dead and severely injured slave could not work!.

I would theorize that the enslavement of Africans was not really based on race!. The first African slaves were actually indentured servants, like thousands of Europeans were!. Eventually the period of servitude was extended to chattel slavery, not only for the slave but his/her offspring!. I would say that racism did not drive slavery in the Americas, but slavery did much to create racism here!.

Though most of the Jews persecuted by the Nazis were forced into slave labor, it was just to get work out of them before killing them off!. Where as slave owners encouraged the growth of the slave population through childbirth (especially after the banning of the African slave trade), the Nazis did not seek to expand the Jewish slave population!. The goal of the Final Solution was to wipe out the Jewish population in Europe, if not the entire world!.

In short, slavery in America was repression of a population to the status of cattle!. The Holocaust was an attempt to exterminate an entire ethnic group!. Slavery was genocide; the Holocaust was!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Up to a point, in that Africans were considered inferior beings by the slave-owners, deprived of their liberty and denied any control over their own lives!. And of course they could be cruelly punished by their owners!. However, they did not want to destroy Africans as a race, as the Nazis wanted to destroy the jews, slavs, communists, homosexuals and other groups they hated!.

Far from wanting to destroy them, slave owners wanted to perpetuate the line of slaves so that they could continue to have their labour!. while being a slave was an unpleasant condition to be in, it was at least life of a kind, and not the same as being exterminated!. And even the worst-treated slaves were never in the kind of horrific conditions that inmates of concentration camps were!.

Slavery was a terrible thing, but it was a different kind of horror from the Holocaust!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, for the following reasons!. The holocaust was a mass murder of Jews, Christians, homosexuals, foreigners, and any German who opposed Hitlers facist dream!. There was no reason to treat those in concentration camps like (valuable) property as slaves were, because those in the concentration camps were to be slaughtered!.
Slaves didnt live the good life, granted, but had you been a slave owner, you would have considered them expensive equipment and not so easily replacable!. hope that helps!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

They share that least noble of human characteristics, the tendency to dehumanize and exploit those who are different from us!. Slavery has been around since ancient times!. During the age of European conquest, it was one of the primary means of subjugation of new lands, and of extracting wealth from the conquered territories!. Germany was driven in part by a sense that it had missed the age of colonization, the chance to build an empire, and the belief that it had been unfairly deprived of wealth and glory!. For complex historical reasons their rage focused on wealth Jewish bankers and industrialists, and by extension on all Jews!. They took their impotent rage out on those who they defined as different and less human, like the slave overseers of colonial America!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In the antebellum south, the slaves actually had protectionist laws!. If a slave handler or owner were tried and convicted of abusing a slave, they could expect to meet their maker at the end of a rope!. There were no laws of protection for the Jews, gypsies, mentally retarded or infirm in Nazi occupied Europe!.

Perhaps you should try studying real American history instead of going with the popular revision!. While slavery was definitely wrong, it by no means compares to what the Nazis did in Europe!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

they are somewhat similar yes, oppression between races!. but there are some differences!. we took advantage of an race and used them to do things for us and took away their rights, but didn't kill them just to kill them!. they would only really kill them for disobedience or if they blamed them for something even if they didn't do anything wrong!. the Holocaust, Germans intentionally murders millions of Jews because of their religion/background!. they tortured them, and found disgusting and inhumane was to kill a person!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In both cases the people were considered an inferior race of humans by the government!. Both the African Americans and European Jews were treated like animals!.

But the similarities stop there!. There is a HUGE difference between slavery and genocide!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
