Yes, Mayans had hieroglyphs and other Africans who were not Egyptians had writing systems like Ge'eze and Nsibidi!.

Mayan I know did!. There are records of the spaniards burning them as works of the devil!.They used pictographs and the Spanish priests couldn't read them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
