It is a transliteration from a Celtic language!. Different people have different conventions for the transliteration!. Boadicea is one!. Boudicca is another!. Boadicea is an older version!.

It is just like the various ways in which writing Chinese placenames have changed!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You have ancient British recorded in Latin then translated into English!.

I have a feeling this has to do with whether you pronounce a Latin "c" as an "s" or a hard "k"!. The same problem you have in the word Caesar, which is Kaiser in German!.

For years the English had mispronounced a lot of classic names, then in the late 19th century they reformed pronunciation, to bring it in line with actual pronunciation!. They didn't always change the names that had made their way into English before that time though so we still say Seesar salad rather than Keezer salad!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
