Question: Thinking about studying history(A level)!.!.!.how is it!?
hey,
I have to choose an A level to take with English which I will be focusing my career on(teaching)!. Among other choices, I am able to choose history!. I do not have history as an O level/GCSE so I have no idea what it is like!
Could you guys help me on that!? What is it like!? Is it hard/fun/interesting!? I will be mainly focusing on Europe history (world wars) and situations in Iraq etc!.
thanks so much!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've just finished my History AS!. We did!.!.!.
British History 1918-51(!?) - the changes in government, welfare state etc
Russia - Lenin and Stalin
Germany - Weimar, Nazism etc

I think its pretty easy as its not like maths or science where you have to problem solve or work stuff out!. Kinda like English, you get told stuff then you interpret it!. (if you know what i mean!)
I think it would be wise to do a lot of background reading before you jump straight into the A-level!. I did the GCSE and although the topics studied are different, the courses overlap in general world events, ideologies and general understanding of the time period!.
Despite this, i think it's a really good choice to make - especially combined with English as it helps you get a good understanding of the way different people think and act, both from the course and from the opinions of other people on the course!.
