Question: What is the history of the "game"!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
A game is a structured or semi-structured activity, usually undertaken for enjoyment and sometimes also used as an educational tool!. Games are generally distinct from work, which is usually carried out for remuneration, and from art, which is more concerned with the expression of ideas!. However, the distinction is not clear-cut, and many games are also considered to be work or art!.

Key components of games are goals, rules, challenge, and interactivity!. Games generally involve mental or physical stimulation, and often both!. Many games help develop practical skills, serve as a form of exercise, or otherwise perform an educational, simulational or psychological role!.

Known to have been played as far back as the 30th century BC, games are a universal part of human experience and present in all cultures!.[1] The Royal Game of Ur, Senet and Mancala are some of the oldest known games!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm not sure which "game" you're referencing!.

1!. A game generically is defined as a contest with rules in which score is kept with a definable start and end!. The early Egyptians were one of the first societies to have wide-spread and popular games!. For instance, they had one called Senet that was somewhat like backgammon and became so popular it has religious implications!. You moved pieces around a board and tried to land on some special squares!. They played another game somewhat like craps that involved throwing knuckle-bones with dots/numbers on each side for score!.

Most ancient societies have had sports!. Wrestling has usually been popular or other variations on war-physical skill!.

2!. There is another take on "game!." There is a famous British saying "ah, the great game is afoot!." It refers to espionage, trickery and spying, in this case I believe it was first referenced to what is now Afghanistan (but then India) with Russian efforts to foment rebellion by the hill tribes against the British!.

3!. There is an American rapper named "The Game!." He's supposed to be big on the West Coast and is part of the gansta rap scene!. He's been involved in a couple of feuds!.

4!. And of course "game" is also jargon for "it's over!." My understanding is that in tennis you'd end the match with the statement "game, set, and match"!. So the video game industry borrowed that and you'd have nintendo or other games chirp "game over" and that got shortened into jargon as just "game" when you beat someone or they got stomped!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
